After graduating with a BA in History of Art (and Architecture) from Yale University in 1991, Gillian moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Her first job was working in production for Tim Burton at Warner Bros. Studios, after which she joined the music supervision team at Mind Your Music. After working at Mind Your Music, Gillian went on to serve as music director at the frontier of the music streaming industry at DMX, then continued as an independent music supervisor. In 1999, Gilian took a hiatus from her career in music to raise a family and focus on philanthropy. In 2019, Gillian co-founded and helped launch the membership-based environmental philanthropy fund PLANET BUYBACK and has since helped fund indigenous-led conservation/adaptation projects in Uganda, the Amazon, Indonesia, and Mexico. In 2022, Gillian became the President of the LA-based contemporary dance company BODYTRAFFIC. She lives in a “biophilic” house she helped design and build in Venice, CA, and is currently designing a home in Idaho.
