Local Lore of Downtown Walking Tour
Approved for AIA CE credit – 2.0 Learning Unit
For all its publicity and global attention, Las Vegas is still full of surprises and secrets. Join a small group for a Downtown walking tour of the legendary casinos and glittering neon signs, uniquely placing Las Vegas in the public imagination. Behind the sumptuous electric facades, hotel lobbies, and cozy gambling parlors, our curated tour will explore some hidden, overlooked places, and we’ll see some obscure objects and curious artifacts, old and new, that have contributed to the storied past of this city for the past 100 years.
Included in the tour are stops at Golden Gate, the first hotel in Las Vegas opened in 1906 (Hotel Nevada) and a tour of one of the property’s Original 10 rooms; and access to the Frank Sinatra green room at Golden Nugget – a one-of-kind Las Vegas treasure never seen before by the public. The two-hour walking tour will include audio tour devices with disposable headphones for guests to immerse themselves in 12 decades of history with renowned cultural urbanist Richard Hooker.
