Join curator Carmen Beals for an engaging talk exploring the vision, research, and storytelling behind Rhythm and Resilience: History, Art, and Legacy in Black Vegas. The exhibition is a powerful portrayal of African American history through photographs, artifacts, and contemporary art, tracing the community’s journey from the city’s first Black settler to the cultural milestones of the Historic Westside.
Beals, known for her work connecting contemporary art with untold stories, will share her curatorial approach, the selection of artists and objects, and how the exhibition connects past and present through an intergenerational lens of creativity and perseverance.
The conversation will take place at Springs Preserve, just steps from the land associated with John Howell, one of the earliest Black settlers. Guests will be invited to hear from Beals and then explore the exhibition with a better opportunity to reflect on place, memory, and legacy in the birthplace of Las Vegas.
